Apply for ENTRE's Artist in Radical Residency program!
ENTRE’s Artists in Radical Residency program (AIRR) provides financial, material, and creative support for two emerging RGV artists to create a new film/video work. Two [2] artists will receive a $1000 stipend along with free access to gear and materials to create their projects. The residency will run from August 1 through December 1, 2024. Projects will be screened at ENTRE’s End of Year celebration on Art Night (December 27, 2024).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Artists must be available to attend a welcoming session in July (date TBD) to meet ENTRE staff and cohort.
- Artists must check in with AIRR Facilitator a minimum of once per month to share updates and any challenges or questions regarding their project.
- Artists must be available for field trip in September (date TBD) with ENTRE staff.
- During the residency, artists will engage with community through a offering such as a screening, workshop or artist talk. This offering can be virtual or in-person.
- Artists must deliver a completed project or work-in-progress at the end of residency period (December 1, 2024). Final projects must not exceed 20 minutes in length.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicant must be a first time filmmaker and/or an emerging artist (visual media practitioners with 6 months experience).
- Applicant must be between the ages of 18-99+ to apply.
- Applicant must reside in the Rio Grande Valley (Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, Willacy counties).
- AIRR is NOT a film production grant. Applications that center the production of a pre-conceived short narrative or documentary film will not be considered.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
- Application goes live on April 1, 2024 and will remain open through June 1, 2024.
- Chosen artists will be contacted via email by June 17, 2024 and must accept their position at the residency by June 24, 2024. Failure to accept by this date forfeits their participation and ENTRE will select another artist to participate.
