With the recent passing of Tejano legend Johnny Canales, the world of Mexican-American art and music loses a champion unlike any other. With his innovative television program, The Johnny Canales Show (which ran from 1983-2005), Canales provided a platform for emerging artists from both the United States and Mexico to share their music with the world - something which had not been possible in such an easy way prior to Canales' efforts. His program served as the stomping grounds for countless artists who have since risen to their own legendary status today: the most well-known of these being the explosive Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla. In honor of his contributions to the culture and the way he truly brought change to the world of music in favor of the Mexican and the Mexican-American alike, ENTRE wishes to celebrate Johnny Canales with a special program highlighting some of the best moments from his career. Programming this event will be barrio historian and film programmer, Eduardo Martinez (@pharrfromheaven).This event is free for all ages.Doors open at 8pm.Program begins at 8:30pm.See y'all Wednesday!📺📺📺
