The protagonist of the film is Dark Smith, portrayed by James Duval, a young man who is struggling to find his place in the world and make sense of his turbulent emotions. Dark is involved in a complicated love triangle with his girlfriend Mel and his best friend Montgomery.
As the narrative unfolds, the film delves into the lives of various other characters, each grappling with their own personal demons and desires. These characters include a bisexual teenager named Lucifer , a sexually adventurous girl named Kriss, and a group of alien invaders.
Araki employs his signature visual style, characterized by bold colors, rapid editing, and dreamlike sequences, to create a world that is both fantastical and disorienting. The film's soundtrack, featuring a mix of alternative rock and electronic music, enhances the mood of uncertainty and unease.
